Little attention has been paid to the thicks and mites of Pavo cristatus. As far as the author is aware, there are only two previous records of mites of the suborder Sarcoptiformes. In the collections brought back from Madhya Pradesh by Dr. B. Biswas of the Zoological Survey of India during a faunistic survey was a small collection of Acarina, from the peafowl, collected at Supkhar, Halon Valley, Balaghat District, 27 September 1957. The examination of material yielded two species a tick (one male and nine larvae) and a mite (two females).
