There are a lot a data concerning the role of testosterone in the formation of sex of the foetus. The synthesis of the testosterone is influenced by the hypophysis and by the foetoplacental unit. In this study the authors compared the prolactine, progesterone, DHAS, cortisol, oestradiol, oestriol, and HPL levels of male and female newborns in material vein, in umbilical vein and artery; on the 28th-32nd weeks (31 parturients, 15 boys and 16 girls) on the 33d-36th weeks (43 parturients, 20 boys, and 23 girls) and on the 40th week (34 parturienrs 11 boys and 23 girls). It is apparaent that on 28th-40th weeks there is no difference in the concentration of steroid and peptide hormone discharge on the bases of the sex of the foetus.
