The activity of 5-nucleotidase and alkaline phosphatase was investigated in the blood and homogenates of various organs of the 29 fattened pigs. It was found that the activity of the two enzymes was not identical in the studied organs: in the case of 5-nucleotidase the highest activity was observed in the adrenals and liver and the lowest in the kidney and heart, wheras alkaline phosphatase showed the highest activity in the adrenals and kidney and the lowest in the pancreas and heart. A directly proportional relation between the activity of the enzymes could only be revealed in the blood components and in kidney and brain homogenates.
