Samples of blood and bone marrow from healthy dogs and dogs with five forms of leukaemia, and other blood disorders, were examined by staining for peroxidase, PAS, alpha-naphthylacetate esterase and toluidine blue. Smears were stained by the May-Grunwald-Giemsa method. Samples from some cats with haematopoietic disorders were examined similarly. The results are presented in 9 tables and 7 figures. The most useful combination of histochemical and cytological techniques is discussed.
