The sensitivities of several serodiagnostic techniques for the detection of Aeromonas salmonicida were compared with the cultured bacteria and the fish collected from a fish farm. In the latex agglutination test and the coagglutination test, a concentration of 107 cfu/ml of bacteria was only detected, whereas in the IFAT (Indirect fluorescent antibody technique) and enzyme immunoassay used by peroxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP), a concentration of 103 cfu/ml was detected. When fishes were tested using these methods, 10, 11, 15 out of 15 fishes showed positive results in the coagglutination test, the latex agglutination test, the IFAT and the enzyme immunoassay, respectively.
