The authors investigated the dynamics of excretion of phenoltetrachlorphthalein metabolites into bile in female Wistar rats. They describe the findings in 10 controls and in 11 rats intoxicated 24 hours before the experiment by an oral dose of carbon tetrachloride. The maximal excretion rate of different metabolites of phenoltetrachlorophthalein was recorded during the time interval of 10-20 minutes after administration of the substance, the majority of biotransformation products was excreted within 60 minutes. In intoxicated rats the mutual ration of excreted metabolites changed and this change was most marked during the interval of 10 to 40 minutes following phenoltetrachlorophthalein administration. At the same time the authors evaluated, how the ratio of metabolites changes in relation to time in individual rats and a preliminary hypothesis was expressed which characterizes this phenomenon in a general way.
