Cytochemical methods were used to study the platelet LDH activity and thrombocytokinetics in 10 children with thrombocytopathy, aged 4-14 years. The platelet LDH activity and thrombocytokinetics proved to be decreased, the platelet mean life-time reduced, while thrombocytopoiesis increased. All these changes evidenced a shift in the platelet energy metabolism in thrombocytopathy, and impairments in the thrombocytic component of hemostasis. A scheme has been suggested by the authors for correction of the metabolic shifts detected.
