Treatment of herpes zoster with vitamin B12

Ten cases of herpes zoster were treated with vitamin B12. 100 micrograms in adults and 50 micrograms in children were administered intramuscularly, daily for four to five days. There was marked relief from pain, rapid disappearance of vesicles and crusts, and no post-herpetic pain. The results on the whole were very satisfactory.
