Mice were fed to appetite until they reached 12, 16, 20, 24 or 28 g bodyweight and the controls were then killed and the remainder given diets for maintenance alone or to permit growth as well, or deficient diets. Body protein remained constant in amount and in percentage for mice of all bodyweights given all diets, indicating that protein was stored or lost at the same relative rate as bodyweight.
