Gastric xanthelasma. Endoscopic, histologic and immunohistochemical study of five cases. In a series of 1600 gastroscopies, one or more gastric xanthelasma were found in five patients (0,31%). The frequency, the clinical findings and the histological patterns of these unusual lesions are examined and compared with the data of the literature. The application of some immunohistochemical methods (alpha -1- antitrypsin, lysozyme) suggests the histiocytic nature of the cells involved in gastric xanthelasma.
