Transaminase activity in normal and irradiated minced muscle autografts on frog gastrocnemius

Alterations in the activities of glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase and glutamate pyruvate transaminase have been studied in normal and irradiated minced muscle autografts on frog gastrocnemius at different post-grafting days. The study reveals that trauma on account of mincing causes a switchover from predominant alanine transamination to aspartate utilization. A 500 R exposure of gamma radiation to the minced graft results in suppression of both the transaminases.
