Procainamide given in vitro or in vivo caused an inhibition on ADP-induced blood platelet aggregation. In vitro, procainamide 2, 8, 32, 128, 512, 2048 .mu.g/ml showed their inhibition rates of 18, 30, 35, 37, 65 and 97%, respectively, in rabbit's blood, and 11, 16, 25, 32, 66 and 92%, respectively, in guinea pigs blood. In vivo experiments of rabbit, 2, 5, 30 and 60 min after i.v. procainamide (5 mg/kg), the rates of inhibition were 42, 32, 30 and 17%, respectively, and a similar feature in guinea pigs. The results demonstrated that procainamide inhibited blood platelet aggregation.
