From the fruits of Melodinus scandens Forster, 14 alkaloids were isolated. 7. well known and a new one from endocarp and seeds: tabersonine 1, 19 S-acetoxy tabersonine 2, 19 R-hydroxy tabersonine 3, 16-epi .DELTA.-14 vincamine, 4, 3-oxo tabersonine 5, scandine 6, epimelmoscine 7. 19 S-acetoxy 3-oxo tabersonine 8 is the new one. 11 already known alkaloids as well as ursolic acid 15 from pericarp: tabersonine 1, vincadifformine 9, 19 S-acetoxy tabersonine 2, 19 R-hydroxy tabersonine 3, lochnericine 10, venalstonine 11, venalstonidine 12, epimeloscine 7, scandine, 6, meloscandonine 13, meloscine 14.
