The effect of select solvents on the haemolytic behaviour of human erythrocytes is reported. The solvents are to be classified as unspecific haemolysins. Quantitative differences of the effect are traced back to differentiated fluidity alterations of the lipid shares in the membrane. Dependencies on concentration and on the incorporation in the erythrocyte membrane are discussed.
