Changes in blood clotting factors after exposing the blood to an emulsion of perfluoroorganic compounds

Changes in blood coagulation values induced by perfucol emulsion and its components were studied in donor blood in vitro. Polyglucin was used as a control. Saline was found to lower blood plasma procoagulant activity, probably, due to the dilution effect. Polyglucin stimulated blood platelet activity in realizing the release of blood platelet factors 3 and 4, and in the utilization of blood plasma coagulation factors. Perfucol emulsion, in contrast to polyglucin, produced insignificant activating effect on blood platelets. It has been suggested that perfucol favors the interaction of anticoagulant components of hemostasis with coagulation factors by lowering their activity, thus producing anticoagulative effect.
