The optimal methods of differential diagnosis of various forms of galactorrhea were developed on the basis of long-term observation of 18- 40-yr old women. The case histories of 3 patients were presented. Pathological galactorrhea may be detected in the presence of hyperprolactinemia and in patients with normal prolactin content in the blood. It is necessary to determine the thyrotropic hormone level, as well as the prolactin level, in people with symptoms of hyperprolactinemic hypogonadism to rule out subclinical hypothyroidism.
