An analysis of 92 human glucose tolerance curves was carried out; the blood was taken on an empty stomach and 30, 60, 90 and 120 min after glucose intake. The blood sugar was determined by Hagedorn-Jensen's method. Characteristic of manifest diabetes was an empty-stomach glycemia of 141 mg/100 (and higher) at which non-diabetic types of the glucose tolerance curves were no longer found. An empty-stomach blood sugar level of 120-140 mg/100 is not always evidence of a pathological process in the body.
