Potential difference applied during selective plasmapheresis is limited by the ability of the cooling system to remove heat during the passage of blood through the cellpack. Nevertheless, the protein fraction obtained shows considerable selection in favour of the less mobile proteins by using potentials of the order of 7 volts/cm. in a stable temperature gradient.
