Uroporphyrinogen synthase activity is increased in the peripheral lymphocytes in various lymphoproliferative diseases. Determination of the activity of this enzyme is a useful diagnostic test for these diseases. Four patients are described in whom this determination influenced the diagnostic work-up and therapeutic management. Its importance in the diagnosis of lymphoma, in establishing complete remission and in the early detection of relapses was demonstrated in these patients.
