It has been shown in experiments on smooth muscle strips of the rat stomach that quantitative criteria of competitive antagonism, based on the acting mass law are not adhered to in studying acetylcholine and atropine interaction in a large range of concentrations (10-8-10-3 M): the effect of low concentrations of the agonist is inhibited to a larger degree than that of high ones.
