The National Institute of Hygienic Sciences Reference Standard for Saccharated Pepsin (Control 831) was prepared. The potency of the material for this standard was measured by the Casein-Folin method and estimated as 7.89 units per mg. On the basis of this potency it was decided that the amount of the standard to be used in the procedure for proteolytic activity of Saccharated Pepsin in J.P.X is 48 mg.
