The mass of black precipitate formed during 24 h of hydrolysis of white hen feathers, black raven feathers, bovine serum albumin, whole milk powder, and defatted milk powder was estimated. Additionally the mass of black precipitate was estimated after 3, 6 and 12 h of hydrolysis of white hen feathers. From black raven feathers about three times more precipitate was obtained than from white hen feathers, from defatted milk powder almost twice as much as from black raven feathers, and from whole milk powder almost three times more than from defatted one. The duration of hydrolysis of white hen feathers is practically without effect on the amount of black precipitate formed.
