The new isolates W-1 and Le-1 of Plasmodium hermani were recently obtained from wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) in Florida. Differences are reported between these 2 isolates in their infectivity to Culex nigripalpus in the laboratory, in terms of rates of infection and the numbers of oocysts per mid-gut, as compared with the Lochloosa isolate (L-5). C. nigripalpus was more susceptible to the 2 new isolates than to L-5.
