This paper discusses the mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, antifungal spectrum, therapeutic uses, adverse reactions, contraindications, formulations and cost of voriconazole (VRZ). VRZ is active against many species of Aspergillus and Candida. It has favourable pharmacokinetic and side effect profiles. VRZ has less nephrotoxicity and less infusion-related toxicity than amphotericin B, which makes it cost effective.
