Response to fulminating hypoxia developed during N breathing was studied in 45 humans. Heart rate, pneumogram, EEG, minute volume and gas exchange parameters were determined. Intensified glycolysis was observed during breathing with N. No significant changes were noted in pH and CO2 tension of venous blood.
