Mosquitoes of Mandla District, M.P

During a survey of the mosquito fauna of Mandla District, Madhya Pradesh, India, on 8-17 April 1985, 11 614 mosquitoes were collected as adults, larvae or pupae. Almost all the mosquitoes belonged to 12 species of Anopheles, with some specimens of Aedes, Armigeres, Culex and Mansonia. The most abundant species was Anopheles culicifacies (79% of the total collected in this genus), followed by A. annularis (14.9%) and A. subpictus (3.7%). The most abundant culicine was C. quinquefasciatus, accounting for about 63% of the culicines collected.
