Recent information on the epidemiology, diagnosis and pathogenesis of the major intestinal protozoal infections of man is reviewed. Infections discussed include Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia, E. polecki, Dientamoeba fragilis, Sarcocystis, Isospora, Cryptosporidium and Blastocystis hominis.
