This paper discusses the various facets of agricultural diversification (horizontal, vertical, and the diversification of market institutions) and offers examples of diversification initiatives in the crop, pigmeat, and food-processing sectors of Vietnam. These examples highlight some key issues determining entrepreneurship, in addition to the traditionally recognized role of technology and information concerning entrepreneurial practices and management knowledge.
