A study assessed whether dietary vitamin D and Ca were associated with 19-year risk of colorectal cancer in a total of 1954 men who had completed detailed 28-day dietary histories during 1957-59. The results indicated that colorectal cancer risk was inversely associated with dietary vitamin D and Ca. Furthermore, this association remained statistically significant after adjustment age, body mass index, the percentage of calories from fat consumed, and several risk factors (cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption).
