Oestrogen receptors in advanced primary breast cancer

Estrogen receptors [ER] in 63 women who presented with advanced primary breast cancer were studied. In this group of patients, not only did ER value increase with the age of the patients, ER positivity was also found to have a prognostification function. Patients with ER positive tumors has a survival which was 1.5 times that of patients with ER negative tumors. Even among patients with ER negative tumors, the detection of any ER at all was found to confer on the patient a survival advantage.
