Tuberculosis in the transplanted kidney

Tuberculous urinary infection was detected in 26 cases among 1000 kidney transplantations; 5 of these are presented. The only possible site of origin of tuberculous disease was the genito-urinary tract in the 5 cases. Different presentations were established of the tuberculous etiology: sterile leukocyturia (2 cases); epididimectomy (1 case); donor kidney tuberculosis (1 case). Two cases developed ureteral stenosis. Clinical treatment was efficient in 3 cases. Two deaths were observed: one secondary to miliary tuberculosis and 1 following post-ureteral obstruction septicemia.
