A case series of 43 soft tissue sarcomas in adults is reported. The usefulness of radiation therapy using accelerated electrons is subjected to particular scrutiny. The authors conclude on the basis of their results that radiation therapy is of limited usefulness in general, and is particularly ineffective when used by itself. On the other hand, a combination of chemotherapy with surgery, or of radiotherapy with hyperthermia seems, on the basis of the first cases considered, to produce favorable results.
