The preparation of an interferon-like factor is described from the allantoic fluid of chick embryos, in which the 'LaSota' strain of ND virus had been inoculated. This crude interferon reduced the num ber of pocks produced by buffalo pox, vaccinia, and cow pox viruses on the chorioallantoic membrane of chick embryos.
