A technique for inducing cyclic skin temperature changes during sleep is described. Stimulation of the facial area induces relatively localized skin temperature responses in the fingers. This centrally medicated response can be used to efficiently probe thermal regulation during sleep. Sleep and skin temperature results from three volunteers support the validity and feasibility of the technique.
