A rapid method for raising monospecific antisera against polio viruses in monkeys

Monospecific antiserum to each of poliovirus was prepared in rhesus monkeys by immunization with live virus suspension prepared in monkey kidney cell cultures. The animals were inoculated with three doses of virus employing intravenous, intramuscular and intraperitoneal routes for immunization. In the sera the geometric mean titres of 1091, 1720 and 1997 were obtained for types 1, 2 and 3 respectively. No heterotypic antibodies could be detected in any of the sera.
