In 49 cattle (22 heifers, 27 cows) injected with 0.5-2 mg cloprostenol i/m between the 257th and 312th days of gestation, parturition occurred 35 +or- 15 h after the injection. Treatment had no adverse effect on any of the calves. Placental expulsion was delayed in 43% of cows. Milk production was very good or good in all except one animal . Intercalving intervals showed that fertility was not affected by cloprostenol treatment.
