The calliphorids Aldrichina grahami, Phaenicia cuprina [Lucilia cuprina], Phormia regina, Calliphora lata [C. nigribarbis] and Chrysomya megacephala and the sarcophagids Parasarcophaga crassipalpis [Sarcophaga crassipalpis] and Boettcherisca peregrina were reared in a forensic laboratory in Japan at different temperatures to obtain information on growth rates. It was found that by the use of these data it was possible to estimate with considerable accuracy the interval since death of bodies in which larvae of these species were present.
