Renin activity in plasma in essential hypertension in women was significantly lower than in men. In labile arterial hypertension in women, plasma renin activity depended on the functional activity of the sex glands; in the climacteric and menopause period this index was significantly lower than during the reproductive period. In stable arterial hypertension in women, plasma renin activity did not depend on the functional state of the sex glands.
