Two Trypanoplasma strains were isolated from the peripheral blood of a pike (Esox lucius) and from a leech (Piscicola geometra) collected from a carp. They were passaged in SNB-9 diphasic blood agar at 20 degrees C. Attempts to infect carp and goldfish with the strains failed.
