Out of the 7 grass species tested, M. chitwoodi reproduced on all except Pseudoroegneria spicata and Elytrigia intermedia. Dactylis glomerata had the highest rate of nematode reproduction. Histological examination of grass root sections infected with M. chitwoodi showed fragmentation, obliteration and asymmetry of the stele caused by the formation of giant cells.
