Egg retention in four snakes

Four snakes were examined because of egg retention. None could be relieved by lubrication and manipulation. One responded to exogenous oxytocin and calcium. Two responded to oxytocin and calcium after ovocentesis and aspiration of part of the contents of the retained eggs. One required surgical intervention.
