Three immature foxes, Vulpes vulpes niloticus from the Mediterranean coastal desert near Burg El Arab, Egypt, were naturally infected by Babesia gibsoni. Splenectomized jackals, Canis aureus lupaster, foxes and domesticated dogs were experimentally infected with the parasite. Morphological features of the parasite, similar in all animals, were similar to those previously recorded for organisms harboured by infected animals from India and West Africa.
