A cataleptoid dissociating agent consisting of a 1:1 combination of tiletamine hydrochloride and zolazepam hydrochloride was shown to offer a wide safety margin, rapid induction, variable effects (related to dosage), excellent analgesia, good muscle relaxation at high doses, small dose requirements (high potency), and smooth, safe recovery. The results in 26 species of Felidae, Canidae, Ursidae, Mustelidae and Procyonidae are tabulated.
