The results obtained with the use of cefuroxime in a series of inpatients with infections were reported. The cases treated were varied with regards to the organs infected. The results were defined as excellent in 56 of the 60 cases treated and fair in another 2; the remaining 2 cases failed to respond to the cefuroxime treatment. The possibility of using cefuroxime, by virtue of its particular pharmacokinetic profile, in urinary, respiratory, biliary infections, etc. The absence of side effects was stressed. The ease of use and efficacy of the drug place cefuroxime among those drugs which may be recommended for first-line use in patients at high risk owing to the complexity and severity of their infectious diseases.
