Of 292 sera from patients at various specialist clinics in Egypt, 74 reacted positively to T. gondii in IFAT, with titres ranging from 1:6 to 1:1024. 46 of these were also examined by an ELISA Reagent Set and 19 by the ELISA microprecipitation test. The results are tabulated and compared. There was positive correlation between the 3 tests in all the 19 cases and in 8 the titre levels coincided. In this study [in Cairo] 292 sera were screened by the IFAT. 46 sera with variable IFAT titres were tested with ELISA Reagent Set and microtitration tests. A comparative evaluation of the specificity and reliability of ELISA method with that of IFAT for the detection of Toxoplasma infection was done.AS/A.H. Balfour.
