Six cases of feline mammary hypertrophy fibroadenoma were encountered among 55 cases of mammary neoplasms in cats recorded since 1976. The cats were 1-7 years of age and of various or unspecified breeds. Common features were multilayered (sometimes only single-layered), loose epithelium with high frequency of mitoses and little or no secretions; myoepithelial-like cells in the deeper layers of epithelium; indefinite and often irregular basal membrane; lack of blood vessels and strongly oedematous connective tissue reticulum; lack of necrosis, inflammatory infiltration and lymph node metastases. The pathological significance and nomenclature of the lesion is discussed.
