Urodynamic study showed that phenoxybenzamine improves the urination of patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy. Relative voiding resitance was introduced in this study as an over-all parameter for evaluating the efficiency of urination. As an over-all parameter it is more convenient than the maximum flow rate which is not valid when the urinary volume is below 200 ml.
