Various methods used in mosquito control programmes are reviewed, of which biological control appears the most efficient, safe and convenient, since it neither generates resistance in the target insect nor damages the ecosystem and is also less costly than some other methods. An annotated list is given of the pathogenic bacteria and Protozoa, fungi, nematodes and predacious fish that have all been used for mosquito control in various countries.
