The effects of sterigmatocystin on a primary cell culture

Sterigmatocystin caused a loss of chromatin material from the nucleus and progressive degeneration of primary monkey kidney epithelial cells. Other cytological alterations induced included inhibition of mitosis, nucleolar fragmentation and the formation of eosinophilic nuclear masses.
