The behavior of GH , tightly connected to homeostasis and to the response to stress, was studied in 16 healthy subjects. The circadian rhythm of GH is maintained after a period of high protein diet, with a night peak much higher than the basic circadian rhythm, and statistically very significant. The behavior of PRL does not change in the course of the 2 different diets. An increase of proteins in the diet evidently is directly responsible for an increment in hormone levels, with a process that is independent from both non-specific stress action (unvaried PRL levels) and from dynamic-specific action of food (maintained circadian rhythm without any variations in hormone levels that can be referred to meals).
